Family Service Project

For a family service project this christmas, we decided to make kits for the homeless. We bought hand sanitizer, first aid kit, lotion, chapstick, gum, hand wipes, tissues, and gloves. The kids made christmas cards for each bag. We also put a pass along cards in the bags with a picture of the Savior on it. We put the kits together during FHE, and had a great lesson about service.

Then we were off to deliver the kits. The first guy was really drunk and could hardly walk over to the car to get his bag. Another guy was asleep, so we left a bag next to his belongings. Mostly we just found people kind of on their own, away from the crowds to give the bags to. Then, we found two older men. They were both so happy and appriciative to get the bags. We were able to watch them open their bags as we were waiting to pull out onto the street. They both got the biggest smiles on their faces as they read their cards. It was such a great experience to share with the kids. They were just as happy to give the gifts as the people who received them.
